Apartment 17 is going under the Magnum knife today, that is, its being gutted. I saw a new work permit issued on line at the DOB, but it does not have the apartment number on it. The garbage truck is on the street again. Rose Demolition. We have been enduring the noise, dust and engine fumes of this truck for nearly a year. When an apartment is gutted, they take it down to the bare bones. All the material ripped from the apartment is carried in plastic garbage cans on the backs of laborers down the stairs to the idling truck. Today the truck is parked in front of a NYC public school. Its often parked in front of this school. I'm sure they would not be allowed to do this in front of Dalton, Brearley, or the Little Red School House.

Yes, and everyone please note: of course these apartments that are stripped down to the bare bones have already recently been intesely renovated by the previous owners; there are only 3 or 4 units left in the building in ancient condition. Nothing like beating the shit out of an already beaten to shit building, yee haw!
