We are two tenant associations who joined together to defend ourselves against a corporate real estate investment hydra that seeks to expel us from our homes in order to maximize their profits.
If they have a PO box and a working phone service it sounds like it puts them one up on their tenants. Which i guess is the name of the game. this being a war of nerves and all. I remember reading that they cut phone services in one building, leaving one tenant imcommunicado for days. He missed the death of a relative by eight days. I think it was this blog that alerted the world to the removal of lobby mail boxes in another of their buildings. Eventually new ones were installed.... but the job was so poorly done the USPS failed them and they had to be redone. Again. I just wonder if this landlord ever got around to the required re-do? If so has the USPS signed off on them? I gather one reason this landlord might give a low priority to tenants mail boxes is that, well before this 'innocent' mishap, the landlord had craftily removed his own need for USPS mail delivery to his tenants for his rental income. To save a postage stamp - and to hell with basic confidentiality for tenants' financial affairs - monthly rental invoices are casually dropped in unsealed envelopes on the floor more or less outside tenants' front door. A bit like the morning paper, in the old days when you got your neighbor's Post and she got your Times. Apparently some find their way into the addressee's hands, some just disappear, and paying the rent becomes another stressful hurdle. Sure, the tenants have to return their payments by mail to the PO box, adequate postage required, but they don't need a mail box of their own to do that. One on a street corner will do. What next? Maybe the landlord will specify that payment has to be made in a new, non-convertible currency, the Shaoul, which will basically put all the tenants in arrears facing eviction.
One anonymous to another. THAT IS SUCH BULLSHIT. Spin things as you will, we're all human beings and believe it or not, even Fortune is trying to do its job. BADLY, perhaps, but still.............. enough ad hominem attacks. Let's stick to reality, please.
Anon 12:22 - Yes Fortune East IS trying to do their job. Their job being to turn the highest profit. Make no mistake that they have their tenants best interest at heart. Read the reviews. NO ONE is THAT inept! And THAT is the REALITY that should be stuck to!
Yulissa?
