We are two tenant associations who joined together to defend ourselves against a corporate real estate investment hydra that seeks to expel us from our homes in order to maximize their profits.
For example, the renovations of these buildings were done in such a way not to maintain perfectly decent buildings but to afford the owners to make big profits on the "luxury" apartments they would create. It is unlikely they'd have been able to do this without stealing from the cheap labor of their workers.
They steal from the cheap labor of their workers, they steal with the cheap construction materials, they steal by cutting corners in workmanship, they steal by bending the rules of building codes..... and they put the lives of those that live in their buildings in mortal danger.
