Still No Gas
We have been without gas since Oct 13. It is now Nov 2. There has been some work on the problem. Plumbers in the building today. Checking out gas lines in all the Apts. Making repairs. We may be getting close. Very hard to know for certain. Westminster Mgmt has had no contact at all with any of us as far as I can tell as I write this post. No communication. No leadership. There is actually no management of any sort, in this building at all.
Oh, they finally sent an email tonight. After I have been calling them everyday since Wednesday to complain about the super letting himself into my apartment (twice) and leaving IT UNLOCKED. Furious. And super furious that up until today they have been telling me the work was done and they were waiting on ConEd... only to find out SURPRISE, SURPRISE they still haven't completed the work to fix the gas. FURIOUS.
ReplyDeleteThe super left your door unlocked: that's absolutely unforgivable. It makes me shudder and feel angry, too. These people have no sense of responsibility, but something has to be done to make them accountable.
DeleteMeter bars? Sounds like "economies of scale" got totally out of hand. Can't believe that "meter bars" could have anything to do with a leak. They truly ARE bastards. Do they put people under oath in housing court?
DeleteOh, and don't get too excited about having gas back - they say they will be working on the gas until Friday. FRIDAY. 4 weeks without gas.
ReplyDeleteThe email from Westminster for posterity:
Hello residents of 118 East 4th Street. I wanted to start by saying thank you to each and every single one of you for being patient while we work day in and out to get the gas back up and running. We are working with plumbers to get this fixed as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvience that this may be causing. We are happy to announce that plumbers were continuing work on-site today and will be working until friday to finish the installation of brand new meter bars. As soon as the work is completed this Friday, Con Edison will be scheduled to come down and turn on the gas immediately!
So some of the market rate tenants have received an email from Westminster. Interesting. The stabilized tenants are not allowed access to the WM website to pay rent, schedule repairs or report any serious issues that need attention. WM says that access to their website is a luxury perk. So no info for us. I've heard that some of the tenants require new stoves as part of this process. I wonder how long that will delay Con Ed from restoring the gas?
